Though in their present untrained state the dogs are not
known to be partial to dark
meat, they will be put through
a 16-week training course, after which they will attack anybody at i the command err the

After training, the dogs will
also stop attacking upon being
commanded * to do so, after
which the victim will be perfectly safe in petting them.
The dogs will also be taught
to track and to search build
ings, and some will ride in police prowl cars.
STUDENTS of ruling techniques have long recognized
the widespread use of police
dogs as s sure sign of an uneasy dictatorship trying to

The Nazis introduced the
system all over Europe, and
the French tried, unsuccessfully, to hang onto Tunis and
Algeria with dogs.
Vice Mayor Harry Gutter-
man, and City Manager
Charles Barrier, are among
the city fathers taking a keen
interest in the four-legged additions to the police force.
Police Sgt Frank Copeland
will be in charge of the local
program, with training assistance from Eugene Duval of
the Jacksonville Beach police.
